Here I am, sporting a Sheik of Araby theme.

The event was very well attended indeed. I was under the impression it was a large tournmanet and the comments made at the event indicated it was the largest of its kind held in Second Life yet.

My first opponent was Jocyelyn Liotta, from the Escorts Unlimited team. She was tough-- that team held top spot in Second Life for a long time, and they are hard to beat.

The elf costume was fetching, but ultimately I was not distracted from my task.. vitory, 5-4.

Jocelyn graciously stuck about to cheer on my opponents for the rest of the evening. :-)

Next was Tiffany Dragonash, for a nailbiting 5-4 victory.. she fences regularly with the Untouchables team, and is no pushover. That was a hard slog.

Josephine Klees was next-- and it came down to a last minute attack.. I greatly prefer the 5-4 victory over anything else. I think people enjoy a close game, both as spectators and as players.

At this point, Exrex Somme was finishing up with Richard Brink, one of the toughest fencers in Second Life.. (I've beaten maybe two times total-- which isn't much).
And so.. a bout a lot of people wanted to see for some reason.. YHN versus Exrex Somme.

This is where I was toppled, 5-2. Oh well, it was grand fun, no complaints.

Final score details:
First Place: Exrex Somme
receiving his trophy, 4500L$ and sword donated by Eren Padar
Second Place: Reigan Reinard
receiving 1500L$ and sword donated by Eren Padar
There were many new faces present, all of whom were courteous and interested enough to hang around until the end. I recommend the United Grand En Gard tournament to anyone who is interested!

Now that looks like a grand tournament! That other one that occurred recently was so long and drawn out, I just couldn't work up any interest. If I hadn't been running around with horses all day Saturday I'd have been there to cheer you guys on!
Hotspur is being very modest, all three ladies he beat are very good and he made it to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, he and I drew each other in the semi-finals, not the finals as we had hoped. (United En Garde uses a random pairing method for each round of a single elimination tournament).
I had hoped for an all-Caledon final, but it was not to be.
One can only imagine how well our lad would do if he took the sport up regularly.
Somme
Sorry I was only able to be present for the first few rounds of play. It really was a grand tournament.
Congratulations to BOTH of you (O'Toole and Somme) - your skills were quite evident throughout as you battled several worthy and talented opponents.
Colonel Somme - You made us all very proud, sir! A well deserved championship!
